 The Illinois River Road (Rt. 100)
in Greene County provides some of the most scenic landscapes along the Illinois River. In Greene County the River Road starts just North-West of Patterson, Illinois and travels South along the bluffs and hills to the southern county line approximately six miles south of Eldred. This treck offers breathtaking views as thousands of years ago the shores of the Illinois River once flowed here. By the time the area was settled in the early to mid 1800s, the waters had receded and left behind rich and fertile farmland.
