| The Kampsville Ferry is free and runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week ( weather permitting). It crosses the Illinois river into Calhoun County at Kampsville connecting IL-108 with IL-96/IL-100 at Kampsville. This is one of two permanent Illinois Department of Transportation ferries (the other is the Brussels ferry at Grafton). These use tug barges connected by a rotating king pin. The tug pushes the barge and rotates on the pin to keep the cars facing the correct direction. | |||
